Singer said he stopped smoking pot after having an anxiety attack that never fully went away.
Don’t blame drugs for whatever is going on with Post Malone these days.
The chart-topping singer and producer took time at a show in Los Angeles on Friday to respond to fans expressing concerns about his health. Videos of Post Malone rolling around the stage and appearing to have trouble walking at previous shows have gone viral on social media recently.
Rest assured, it’s just Post Malone being, well, Post Malone, according to Page Six. “I’m not on drugs and I feel the best I’ve ever f–king felt in my life,” he said. “And that’s why I can bust my ass for these shows, and f–king fall on the floor, and do all that fun s–t,” he said.
Dre London, Post Malone’s manager, spread the word online, sharing a clip from a recent show while reassuring fans that the singer was playing it up for the song. “Thanks for your concerns! I’m sure I would have let you know if something was wrong! Falling while performing, ‘I Fall Apart’ guys.”
Cannabis used to be a big part of the singer’s life, Post Malone told GQ in an interview last week, and he even named his first album Stoney in honour of his old nickname.
After he uploaded a version of White Iverson — the song that would give him his big break — to SoundCloud in 2015, he said he woke up the next day and celebrated the massive amount of views the only way he knew how.
“I woke up, it had — I don’t remember if it was 7,000 or 30,000,” he recalled. “I sat at that computer all f–kin’ day, smoking weed, drinking, watching that s–t going up. And I was like, ‘This is so f–kin’ awesome, dude!’ That was, like, one of the best days of my life.”
But Post Malone left a part of those days behind, he said, after suffering what he believed was a weed-induced anxiety attack that never fully went away. Now instead of spending money on marijuana, he uses it to bring in the green through Shaboink Hemp, a company he founded that has partnered with Icon Farms and Sherbinskis to produce pre-rolled hemp and tobacco products.
“I’m proud to bring natural hemp pre-rolls by Shaboink to market. It’s a product I personally love and know my fans will, too,” Post Malone said. “Our partners are best in class and so is this product. The terpene flavours are great, and you can’t beat an all-natural pre-roll,” he added.
But rest assured, Post Malone is still living the rockstar life and may have even upped his interest in alcohol, as he described a rough two-week break from touring in Los Angeles late last year.
“There was not a second of not-inebriation,” he said. “And I couldn’t sleep, so I’d get hammered and stay up till f–kin’ 3 p.m.”
