Tommy Chong is happy to give away free medical cannabis to those who need it for conditions like pain and anxiety during the COVID-19 crisis.
The 81-year-old stoner icon — half of the mellow duo, Cheech and Chong — credits cannabis with helping him beat prostate cancer. Chemotherapy, radiation and cannabis-containing suppositories were used to treat what he characterized, a few years back, as his “pain in the butt” cancer.
Chong is also happy to pay it forward because he gets plenty of weed sans charge. “I don’t think I’ve paid for marijuana in 50 years. People give it to me for free. I can afford to give it away,” he told the New York Post.
But the report adds he is also open to giving away free medical cannabis to those who can’t clear coronavirus-related hurdles, such as getting their prescriptions filled because of shutdowns or being unable to afford weed amid all of the economic upheaval.
“There are a lot of people that depend on it and can’t get to their dispensary,” he told the New York Post.
It is not clear exactly how Chong will distribute his free weed, however. Perhaps, he can convince Dave to lend a hand.
